History of Spain and Iran
The national football team of Spain is known for their wealth of experience in international competition as a result of their many appearances in the FIFA tournaments.
The national football team is known for many names that it is called. Apart from being referred to as La Roja which means The Red One, the team is also called La FuriaRojameaning The Red Fury, and La Furia Española which also means The Spanish Fury. Sometimes, it is simply called La Feria which is interpreted as The Fury.
It was recorded that the national football team came to be when the country needed a football team that would represent her at the Summer Olympics that was to hold in Belgium in 1920.

Iran had its first FIFA international match played at Afghanistan on 25 August 1941. The first appearance that they would at the FIFA Mega Event was in 1978, although their attempt to qualify in 1974 was aborted.
The first match of Spain in the FIFA World Cup tournaments was on 27 May 1934 when they played against Brazil in a 3-1 win. Then, their most significant success was when they played against Bulgaria on 12 June 1998 in a 6-1 win which held at Lens in France.
So far, after their debut in 1920, they have participated in a total of 14 matches out of the 20 FIFA World Cup tournaments that have held so far, as well as ten matches out of the 15 UEFA European Championships that have held in their continent.

At the Asian continental cups, Iran has emerged winners three times which are in 1968, 1972, and 1976. They have also finished in the third place four times which are in 1980, 1988, 1996, and 2004. Then, for the Asian Games, they have won the Gold Medal four times in 1974, 1990, 1998, and 2002, and the Silver Medal two times in 1951 and 1966.
On the part of their counterpart, Spain is glamorously endorsed as one of the eight national teams to have been crowned FIFA World Cup champions, with their defeat of Netherlands in a 1–0 win during the 2010 tournament in South Africa making them the first European team to win the title outside Europe.
Furthermore, Spain also got European titles in Euro 2008 and Euro 2012 after defeating Germany and Italy in the respective finals. Notable Wins and Defeats
Despite their notable wins, the biggest defeat of Spain came when they played against Brazil on another occasion on 13 July 1950 at Rio de Janeiro with Brazil winning against Spain in a 6-1 defeat.
Then, the worst results that they have recorded so far during the tournaments are when they could not go beyond the Group stage level in 1962, 1966, 1978, 1998 and 2014.
As for Iran, all through their appearances at these breathtaking international tournaments organized by FIFA, they have never gone beyond the group stage. In fact, the only win that has been recorded in their favor during all of their appearances at the World Cup is in 1998 when they played against the United States and ended in a 2–1 victory.
Apart from winning the AFC Asian Cup three times, the Iran national football team’s lowest position so far is 6th which they took at the 2015 tournament. They made the third position four times which are in 1980, 1988, 1996 and 2004. They came fourth in 1984 and fifth in 1992, 2000, 2007 as well as in 2011.
