Also, the soccer team is known with the nickname Selección de fútbol de Costa Rica in the Spanish language.

According to history, the administration is a member of the International Federation of Association Football known as FIFA since the year 1927. Then, the team also joined the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) in 1961, while in 1990, they became a part of the Central American Football Union (UNCAF).On the other hand, as for the Serbia national soccer team, they represent Serbia in association football in the world. Also known as ФудбалскарепрезентацијаСрбије / FudbalskareprezentacijaSrbije in the Serbian language, the team is under the control of the Football Association of Serbia. This is the body that governs football in the country.

With the nicknameOrlovi (that is the Eagles), Serbia has long been known with football as a part of the country. While they were under the Yugoslav national teams, they have made a lot of appearances in quite some matches with a good number of successes to their credit.

The soccer squad of Serbia was initially known as the Serbia and Montenegro, and they represent the federation of Serbia and Montenegro. At that time, they were under the management of Football Association of Serbia and Montenegro. However, after Montenegro became independent in 2006 from Serbia, on 28 June of the same year, Serbia renamed its team as Serbia national football team.

Appearances at International Football Competitions

Initially, the governing body of football in Serbia was known as the Football Federation, and it was, at that time, the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes. It was founded in 1919 at Zagreb with the name Jugoslovenskinogometnisavez. After its establishment, it became admitted into FIFA. Then in 1920, the team played her first international game which was during the Summer Olympics at Antwerp.

The Costa Rica football team began making appearances as far back as 1921. It was in September of that year that they made their debut while the Independence Centenary Games took place in Guatemala City. While they played against El Salvador team, they won their first match in a 7–0 game. And at the final stage also, they played against Guatemala team and defeated them in 6-0. Consequently, the Costa Ricans went home with the trophy.

At the inaugural world competition of the FIFA Mega event, the national squad of Serbia is known for the notable result they made then. For example, at the 1930 and 1962 editions of the tournament, the team ended up in the fourth position on both occasions.

The first time that Costa Rica would make an appearance at the FIFA Mega Event was in 1990. Although, they did not enter between 1930 and 1954, yet all their effort to make an appearance at the world cup event between 1958 and 1986 ended in futility.

According to FIFA and UEFA, the Serbian are seen as the successor of the Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro national teams, but then, because of the Yugoslav Wars that was ongoing around the 1990s, there was the need to sanction the country of Yugoslavia. Consequently, the featuring of star players like PredragMijatović, Dragan Stojković, SinišaMihajlović and Vladimir Jugović had to be curbed somehow.

As at the time that the nation of Serbia stood on its own, and the national football team of Serbia was formed, the team, so far, has made an appearance at the FIFA World Cup once which was in 2010. Although they made an effort to qualify also in 2014, they missed out. And by their qualification for the 2018 World Cup tournament, it makes a total of two appearances that they will be making at the FIFA World Cup.
